SDMacTech (“SDMacTech,” “I,” “me”) is an Apple and Mac consulting business based in San Diego, California. This policy explains what information sdmactech.com collects, how I use it, and the choices you have. If you have a question about it, email mac@sdmactech.com or call (858) 217-4609.

Information I collect

Information you give me.

• Newsletter sign-up: your email address, when you subscribe to my email list.
• Appointment booking: your name, email address, phone number, and any notes you enter when you schedule a visit or call.
• Email, phone, and text: whatever you choose to share when you contact me directly.
• Blog comments: your name, email address, and comment, if you leave one.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, sdmactech.com uses cookies and similar tools to understand how visitors use the site. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit, how long you stay, and the site that referred you. I use this in summary form to see which pages are useful and to improve the site.

Services that help run this site

I rely on a few trusted providers. Each one handles your information under its own privacy policy:

• Google Analytics (Google LLC): measures site traffic. You can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Google’s privacy policy.
• Google reCAPTCHA: protects forms from spam and abuse.
• Jetpack (Automattic Inc.): site statistics, security, and performance. Automattic’s privacy policy.
• Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.): sends my email newsletter. Intuit’s privacy statement.
• Calendly: handles appointment scheduling. Calendly’s privacy notice.
• Pressable: hosts this website.

How I use your information

• To respond to you, schedule and provide services, and send invoices.
• To send the newsletter, if you signed up for it.
• To keep the site secure and working, and to improve it.
• To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.

I do not sell your personal information, and I do not share it with anyone for their own marketing. I share it only with the service providers listed above, and when the law requires it.

Your choices

• Email: every newsletter has an unsubscribe link. You can also email me and I’ll take you off the list.
• Cookies: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, though some features may not.
• Access, correction, deletion: email mac@sdmactech.com to ask what I have about you, to correct it, or to delete it. I’ll respond within 30 days, except where I need to keep records for legal or tax reasons.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no common industry standard for responding to it, so this site does not currently change its behavior when it receives one. You can use the opt-out and cookie options above instead.

How long I keep information

I keep contact and service records for as long as you’re a client and afterward for as long as tax and business record-keeping requires. Newsletter addresses stay on the list until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept in summary form under the providers’ own retention settings.

Security

The site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and I use reputable providers with their own security controls. No website is perfectly secure, so please don’t send passwords or other highly sensitive information through the site or by email.

Children

This site is not meant for children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent me information, contact me and I’ll delete it.

California residents

This policy is written to meet the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA). If you live in California, you may also ask me, once a year and free of charge, which personal information (if any) I shared with third parties for their direct marketing. The answer is none, but you’re welcome to ask at mac@sdmactech.com.

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, I’ll post the new version here and update the date at the top.
